Cookies are small text files a site leaves in your browser. This page names every type ThundrGirl sets, what each one actually does, and how to switch them off.
ThundrGirl uses as few cookies as the product can function with. They keep a match session alive, remember choices you made, and tell us in aggregate which pages work and which ones confuse people. Nothing more exotic than that — no advertising trackers, no cross-site profiling, nothing sold to data brokers. We do not use cookies to build an advertising profile of you, and no third party gets to follow you across other sites from here.
2The cookies we set
Three groups cover all of it:
Strictly necessary
Session cookies that keep you matched, route you between pages and protect the site from abuse. The product cannot run without these, so there is no off switch — blocking them breaks matching outright.
Preferences
These remember settings like language and display choices, so the site greets you the way you left it. Refuse them and ThundrGirl still works; it simply forgets your choices between visits.
Analytics (Google Analytics 4)
GA4 cookies count visits, pages and rough session patterns in aggregate. They never see the content of a call. Google publishes its own cookie and privacy documentation, including a browser opt-out add-on.
3Third-party cookies
Google Analytics 4 is currently the only third party setting cookies through thundrgirl.com. We run no ads, so there are no ad-network cookies to list. Those analytics cookies are governed by Google's privacy policy, not ours, and Google's opt-out tools work on them. If we ever add another third-party service, this page gets updated before it goes live.
4How to switch cookies off
Every modern browser lets you block or delete cookies. In Chrome, Safari, Firefox or Edge, look under Settings, then Privacy or Site Settings. You can block all cookies, only third-party ones, or have them cleared every time you close the browser.
Blocking just the analytics group is the usual sweet spot — the site keeps working exactly the same while the counting stops.
5What stops working if you block them
Block the necessary cookies and matching fails — a room cannot stay open without a session behind it. Block preference cookies and the site reverts to defaults on each visit. Block analytics cookies and nothing changes for you at all; we simply lose the aggregate view that guides our fixes.
6What about Do Not Track?
Some browsers send a Do Not Track header with every request. There is no industry standard for honoring it, so rather than pretend otherwise, here is the concrete version: analytics cookies can be blocked per browser using the steps above, Google's own opt-out add-on works on this site, and blocking analytics changes nothing about matching. Your choice sticks because your browser enforces it — not because a signal was politely ignored.
